Short-term Guarantee
Within 10 days of the Buyer’s
possession, you, the buyer, are required to take the puppy to a licensed
veterinarian for the short-term guarantee to apply.
Should a licensed veterinarian
diagnose any contagious or infectious diseases during these
first 10 days, notify me immediately, and then send the written
diagnosis with the discovery test and medication cost. The breeder only
agrees to pay (a.) 100% of the test cost that initially discovered the
disease and (b.) 100% of the prescribed medication to initially treat
the puppy.
In the case of
an unexpected death of the puppy within 10 days of possession,
the buyer will pay for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Seller agrees to pay 50% of autopsy not to exceed $50. If
the findings show death is due to a congenital disorder or
contagious disease, the findings, in a form of a signed statement from
your veterinarian describing the congenital disorder or disease, is to
be supplied to seller within 5 days of death. The buyer will then
receive a replacement puppy or a refund for the price of the puppy.
The buyer
is responsible for all other veterinary costs.
Long-term Guarantee
Through
testing, the parents of your puppy have shown to be clear of hip
dysplasia, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, and Von Willebrand’s Disease.
Within 2 years of the birth of your
puppy, should your puppy be diagnosed by OFA
as to having hip dysplasia beyond the mild condition
causing the puppy to no longer function as a companion, the puppy will
be replaced or the price of the puppy will be refunded. Also within 2
years, if your puppy is diagnosed by a
board-certified ophthalmologist
as having PRA, I will replace your puppy or refund the purchase
price. The puppy must be returned to the seller in good condition other
than the specified problem at the expense of the buyer. Transfer of
ownership must accompany your puppy. If the buyer wishes to keep the
puppy, seller will reimburse 1/3 of the purchase price.
The buyer agrees to provide a warm and
loving home for the puppy. The buyer throughout the puppy’s life will
also provide heartworm medication, regular vet visits and immunizations
as needed. Spaying or neutering is recommended within the first year of
life. AKC papers will appear with a limited registration. Your puppy
can still enter events other than Conformation.
Breeder is available throughout the life
of the puppy for questions or comments. Pictures will be happily
received. You, the buyer, agree that this dog is not to be given or sold
to any pet store, laboratory, puppy mill or dog pound. If for any reason
you find
you can no longer care for your sheltie; you
may return him/her to me along with transfer of ownership. To the best
of my ability, I will locate a good home for your puppy, or he/she will
have a home with me.
For
reimbursement or replacement guarantee, a licensed veterinarian must
make all claims in writing. All travel expenses are the responsibility
of the buyer.
By signing this guarantee the buyer and
seller understand and agree to the terms listed on the above two pages.
Please return this signed guarantee along with your payment for your
Sheltie puppy. This guarantee is not transferable.
